SMART, the leading provider of rostering and workforce management solutions to the NHS has gone live with a unique timesheet solution for 20,000 staff across six NHS Trusts in the Manchester area. The solution enables the distribution of timesheet data entry out to department administrators.
Trust wide implementations of the software include employees at; Bolton, Salford and Trafford Mental Health NHS Trust, Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, Salford Royal Hospital NHS Trust, South Manchester University Hospitals NHS Trust, Christie Hospital NHS Trust and Manchester Primary Care Trust.
The Timesheet system enables rapid and secure entry of timesheet data by department administration clerks for approval and submission to the Electronic Staff Records (ESR) payroll solution, that has been implemented in all of these Trusts as part of 'Wave 7'of the ESR national programme for the NHS.
Using the most advanced Microsoft.NET and SQL Server technology, the Timesheet solution enables speedy and optimised deployment across large numbers of users across a Trusts Intranet, without the need for a desktop installed application, significantly reducing the costs of implementation.
Tristan Spencer, Director - Health Market at SMART explains, 'Using a secure login, department administrators are presented with a simplified view of a list of staff and the appropriate payroll elements that need to be keyed in. Once the data is entered it is electronically approved by the line manager responsible for the appropriate staff groups. A key benefit is that the information can go through a second level of approval and then be posted seamlessly into the ESR payroll system'.
