| Eric Smart, CEO | |  | Eric Smart is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of SMART and has overall responsibility for all the company’s operations. Eric has over 20 years commercial experience in workforce management solutions including development of a range of consultancy services.
Having developed a specific interest in business efficiency, Eric gained an MBA at Cranfield University in 1976. He then gained experience as a Certified Accountant and Chartered Secretary which covered a wide scale of businesses including stockbroking, oil drilling, distribution and pharmaceuticals. Eric has also been the Eastern representative for the Confederation of British Industry’s SME Council and has worked on the Department of Trade and Industry Company Law Review team and the CBI Tax Committee.
During the past 20 years, Eric has made numerous media appearances and spoke at many national and international conferences on subjects including annual hours, workforce management, rostering and absenteeism. Under his leadership, SMART is the leading provider for workforce management solutions. |
| Tristan Spencer, Health Market Director | | | Tristan has been on the board of directors for SMART since 1995 and has been instrumental to the business in achieving its growth, as well as key to the innovation and leadership in the Workforce Management market.
In 2007, he took on the role of Health Market Director following a restructure of the business to focus on vertical market business units. In this role Tristan is responsible for all healthcare sector operations including market and product strategy, sales management, channel and partner development, customer management and project delivery.
Prior to this, Tristan was the Operations Director responsible for project delivery and customer operations across all vertical markets. In this role Tristan led the ESR project for SMART as the Project Director working closely with the NHS to successful deliver a multi-million pound programme to NHS Trusts across the UK.
Tristan holds a Diploma in Mechanical and Production Engineering, as well as a Masters in Advanced Manufacturing Systems from Kingston University.
Having joined SMART in 1991, during his career at SMART Tristan has been responsible for most areas of the business at one time or another including: customer services, product strategy, product management, software development, corporate marketing, accounts and channel management. |
| Nick Whiteley, Chief Technology Officer | |  | Nick Whiteley is the Chief Technology Officer at SMART, responsible for emerging technologies and developing the technological strategy for the company. Having been on the board of directors since 2002, Nick oversees Enterprise Product Development, Business Integration, Technical Services and Hosting.
During his time at SMART, Nick has transitioned SMART’s product line from multi-site to enterprise class through web centric .Net technology. He has also developed a first class hosting operation enabling customers to ‘pay-as-they-grow and SMART’s integration service, the first of its kind in the industry.
Nick is focussed on continuing innovation and leadership by developing the strategic technical direction and utilising the latest technologies to ensure SMART plays a major part in the Real Time Enterprise. He has also pioneered the use of new and emerging data gathering technologies in the enterprise, through partners from RFID to Biometrics and Telephony.
Nick holds a BSc (Hons) in Artificial Intelligence followed by a Diploma in Occupational Studies and joined SMART in 1996. |
| Kevin Lewis, Customer Services Director | |  | As Customer Services Director, Kevin has 22 years experience of workforce management solution sales and customer support with 14 years at SMART.
Kevin is responsible for the daily activity of the new business sales team working in the commercial sector, whilst also being responsible for all customer accounts and relationships, providing direct board level contact with all customers and all SMART support services.
Kevin started his career in engineering and uses his knowledge and experience of managing staff and processes to maximise customer investment in the SMART workforce management solutions. |
